Pure West Country Bees wax. BEESWAX We offer a high quality beeswax gathered from various counties in the west country of England. This beeswax has a light golden brown colour and a subtle floral/honey odour reflecting the plants which the bees have visited. Beeswax is the basis of all traditional creams where it allows water and oil to combine into a stable paste. It is remarkably effective in this; one portion of beeswax will easily make 20 times its own weight or volume of oil and water into a cream.
Simple recipe: 1 portion Beeswax, 10 portions of a Vegetable Oil, 10 portions of water. 1) Melt the beeswax gently in a pan. 2) Stir in the Vegetable Oil, warm again till the solution goes clear. 3) Add the water and warm whilst stirring with a fork till homogenous. 4) Allow the mixture to cool and stir with a fork to keep it homogenous. 5) Gently warm it up again with stirring until it is liquid enough to pour. 6) Pour into pots. This recipe makes just a plain cream, however essential oils can be added to the vegetable oil, and instead of plain water you can use herbs infused into water to create almost any kind of cosmetic or medicinal cream. Note that this kind of natural cream contains no preservative and will have a short shelf life, but this can be extended by keeping it in the fridge. Various natural preservatives like Grapefruit Seed oil or Benzoin can be added, but they do have a very distinctive odour.
Other uses of Beeswax: Carpentry and furniture care. For the smooth running of wooden drawers and the polishing of fine furniture, use real beeswax Candlemaking. If you want to make very high quality candles which burn with a fabulous and subtle aroma, then hang the expense and use beeswax. Scented wax. Beeswax will solidify a considerable volume of essential oil to make a solid and fragrant pomander. Beware of fire risks when heating essential oils. Archery. A bead of beeswax on the tip of an arrow will greatly improve its chances of penetrating plate armour. (I bet you didnt know that.) |
