The volatile oil is steam distilled from the leaves.	Fresh, spicy and sweet balsamic undertone.

General Description

Bay Essential Oil has a powerful, spicy-medicinal odour, just like the Bay leaves used in cooking. Bay oil has uplifting and grounding properties and is said to clear mental confusion and clarify thought processes.

Bay oil was very popular with the Romans, who thought that the herb was symbolic of wisdom, peace and protection. In ancient Greece athletes were crowned with wreaths of bay.

The bay leaf originated in Asia, and spread to the Mediterranean and other countries with suitable climates.

Properties

Astringent, antiseptic, stimulating, warming, energising.

Base Products

Eugenol, myrcene, chavicol, methyl eugenol, linalol and limonene among others.

Safety

DILUTE TO 5% OR LESS IN A CARRIER OIL BEFORE SKIN APPLICATION. KEEP OUT OF EYES. DO NOT SWALLOW. AVOID DURING PREGNANCY.
